The koi have drank the water down.
They are ready to walk across the mud,
stretching to see the unmurky garden living
beyond the pond, just there, ready,
the fish that have only flickered thus far
cast themselves out, spawning toward
flowers, gasping to kiss blazing camelias.
I thought the koi were EATING to outgrow their murky pond...not suck it dry. Now that they're on dry land, are they going to hike up and free that snow-bound star...or is it already a thread woven into the blanket of stars in the night's sky, covering the desert with delicate, shining warmth? At any rate, I'm glad they're free and ready to explore new territory.
